Early Spring Training Report Card

Eight games into Spring Training rarely gives a glance of a 162 game season. Wins don't mean anything and progress -- along with low golf scores -- is all that matters. Most pitchers haven't thrown off a mound in months and some hitters haven't seen a non-stationary ball since their last at-bat of the season. But through a week and a half, what have we seen so far from the St. Louis Cardinals?

(Including exhibition win over Dominican Republic, Excluding 3/6 vs. Mets)

Obviously these stats can be misleading. Some guys have more at-bats than others and one good week of hitting (or pitching) doesn't necessarily mean anything. Nor would one bad week of hitting -- the entire season is full of ups and downs.

But I thought it would be interesting to chart where the players are so far...but don't expect it too often. Or ever again, really. That took awhile.

So, all in all, after tying game one and losing game two, the Cardinals have come back to go on a nice five game winning streak and most "key" players are doing quite nicely.

Overall grade: B+
