The Cardinals beat the Nats this afternoon with a strong performance from Chris Carpenter. Yes it was a spring game and he only went 2 innings but he looked like Carpenter of old. Over 2 innings he didn't allow a hit or a walk. If the Cardinals want to keep pace with the Cubs in the division this year, Carpenter is going to have to stay healthy. I won't say today's outing was bad for Cubs fans, as I never like to wish an injury on anyone, but I will say if Carpenter's health stays up maybe that Cubs/Cards series in late September will be for the winner of the division.
