Not a lot to be excited about out of the game today. Only the second Spring Training game (key words, Spring Training) so it's not the end of the world. Lohse was anything but spectacular in his first outing, scaring everyone who condemned the Cardinals for his contract extension. But some bright spots considering few starters played. Molina drove in a couple and Joe Thurston homered. With last year's atrocious bullpen, please God let Chris Perez be the real deal.
This is off subject, but I want to congratulate a guy I grew up with who pitched in relief for the Seattle Mariners today against San Diego for his first appearance in a big league uniform. Shawn Kelley and I played Little League together and, obviously, he had the talent on the team. Today he threw an inning of hitless baseball with a strikeout. I still see his parents all the time so I'm rooting for him to start making at least $400K to watch baseball from the bullpen.
